Teaching and learning with justice at the heart.

Hi, I’m Emily, an anti-bias educator and consultant. I support educators who are committed to justice and equity through professional learning and curriculum alignment work. I believe teachers are essential in a democracy and classrooms are critical sites for social change.

What’s at the heart of your teaching?

Are you inspired by the goal of a beloved school community? Are you looking for concrete actionable steps to dismantle equity barriers through meaningful curriculum work? Let’s talk!

I am the principal author of the Learning for Justice Social Justice Standards (SJS), a framework for anti-bias education at every grade level from K-12. My work is focused on practical application and successful implementation of the SJS Framework.

• I  help schools and districts make their DEI work more effective by embedding anti-bias education goals into school culture and curriculum.

• I help professional learning communities build capacity and connection in support of school-wide equity efforts.

• I help individual educators examine their pedagogy and create the conditions necessary for students to develop critical consciousness.

• I help publishers and authors communicate and create materials that promote equity and justice in education.

How I Can Help

“This week has been amazing at the Anti-Bias Curriculum Redesign Lab, particularly for my work as an administrator and in a role that really thinks about curriculum all the way around. It’s been a wonderful opportunity for me to learn the skills and then take them back to the teachers and to the employees on our campus to really have a framework for asking critical questions.”
